Our honeymoon was one of the most magical travel experiences of our lives. We decided to to travel between the Caribbean and South America. Ian planned the entire trip. It was the perfect mix of romance and adventure. Our first stop topped the charts. After landing at the tiny airport our adventure took us through the winding roads of a beautiful country. Our stop was Jade Mountain. Jade Mountain Resort is on St. Lucia’s south-western Caribbean coastline. It is a cornucopia of organic architecture. The scenic beauty from the resort is truly breathtaking.
The architect and owner Nick Troubetzkoy built the perfect balance of harmony in the Caribbean nature. The bold architectural design – individual bridges leading to exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries with rugged stoned-faced columns reaching towards the sky. Our nights were spent in an outdoor sanctuary overlooking the St. Lucias Pitons. Our days were spent on the beaches sipping cocktails.
Ian’s favorite thing to do was wake me up bright and early to see the sunrise and find a fun activity. Our adventures through the island started with bike riding through the banana plantations. During the ride we explored ruins from the plantation and we hiked to the top of the mountain to enjoy the majestic views of the island. The next day we went horse riding through the hills and that evening kayaking to a small local village to enjoy a small village fish fry. We danced on the streets and chatted with the locals.
Our final night on the island the Jade Mountain Resort set up a romantic candle light dinner on the beach under the most perfect canopy. We watched the sunset, ate an amazing gourmet meal, sipped our champagne and enjoy the moment as newlyweds. It was the perfect ending to the first leg of a romantic trip.
We soaked in the culture of this beautiful island in 3 short days. From here we were off to discover Cuba!
