Motherhood isn’t always beautiful, or relaxing. Our days can seem long and our nights even longer. Mother’s Day is usually our day to exhale. To feel appreciated and for our family to say thank you for all that we do.
This May, Disney Aulani is letting us exhale by celebrating all things mama with Mahalo Mama Month! The Ziering girl’s and I took a little adventure over the sea to the island of Oahu in Ko Olina, to the Aulani Resort and Spa to preview all the magic. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff with the true Disney spirit. From just the entrance we were immersed in local Hawaiian Culture. From the paintings to the floors, the resort truly celebrated the natural wonders and beauty of the island.
We arrived late in the day and spent our evening exploring the beautiful resort. Every angle showed the contemporary Hawaiian Art and design. The girls learned all about the mischievous Menehune figures that they could search for around the resort and found the exciting kids club called Aunties Beach House! I registered the girls prior to arrival and when we found it they begged to go in. The kids club is a 5,200 square foot club for all things fun. From dress up to arts to playground to movies there was no way a child could get bored. I realized this was the perfect way for me to plan to sneak away and hit the spa the next day. After exploring the kids club we landed at the Makahiki Buffet. They even had a kid size station so they could serve themselves! My girls loaded up on fresh sushi and were ready to hit the sheets before it was even dark!
Our room was so comfortable. We had a living room and a kitchen which makes a family vacation so much easier. We had room service deliver the perfect breakfast in bed to start our first day, because sometimes the best place to dine is where you already are… and with our gorgeous view of the resort and ocean, why not?
The girls were so excited to go back to Aunties Beach House and party at the Aloha Party! I was off to check out the Laniwai Spa, the first Disney spa. I spent the day relaxing with a Massage, a Cinderella Facial and a pedicure to start my week off right. I spent my lunch relaxing at Kula Wai, outdoor Hydrotherapy Gardens located outside the spa. The most amazing thing about this spa was that although you were at a family resort with children running and screaming in the pools outside, the spa is set up where you can not hear any of it. It was truly peaceful. I knew my children were safe and happy at Aunties Beach House while Disney gave me a break at the spa. It was perfection.
The next few days were spent partying at the Disney Aulani pools with the girls and their new friends. Each day the characters would show up and start a pool party! Penna was always front and center dancing poolside with Minnie Mouse! Mia loved boogie boarding at the lagoon and Penna could spend the day digging in the sand. Our favorite water activity was definitely the Rainbow Reef! It is a private saltwater snorkeling lagoon right in the center of the resort! The girls had the best time and Penna was squealing the whole time about swimming with Dory! The girls ran the Menehune Bridge, splashed in Keiki Cove, flew down the water slides and cruised down the Waikolohe Stream lazy river! It was never ending water fun with lots of lifeguards all around.
One of the most magical experiences we had at Disney Aulani was the character breakfast at Makahiki Buffet. The girls waited patiently to get their picture and an autograph from Mickey Mouse. While enjoying their Mickey waffles and dolphin bananas, the girls got to get up and have a dance party with Goofy and Minnie Mouse. Aunty from Aunties Beach House even stopped by to shake her maracas.
Our trip to Disney Aulani was truly a magical expereince. From the peace and relaxation at Laniwai Spa to the true joy I felt watching my daughters have the best time dancing goofy with Goofy, I truly felt that Disney understood. They found the perfect way to say Mahalo to us moms.
Other exciting things we did at Disney Aulani-
Excursions– Disney Aulani has a fun list of off site excursions from spoting humpback whales on a catamaran cruise, tour O‘ahu‘s moving World War II memorials or hike to a hidden waterfall. The girls and I took an afternoon boat ride too see Dolphins and have lunch! It was such a great experience.
Celebrate the Spirit of Moana-
From enjoying the Moana experience at the Painted Sky Spa to special visits from Moana during Uncle’s Fireside Chats- Moana excitement is alive at Disney Aulani and my girls certainly enjoyed!
