You may read a lot about me telling you how I was raised on this magical Christmas Tree Farm in Ohio. My dad never missed a fun detail outside, while he was working hard to help the customers have a great experience. My mom’s focus was inside. I remember my Dad carrying in piles of boxes for her to get started. My mom decorated the house throughout my childhood, starting in November with beautiful Christmas displays like a winter wonderland. If you were ever lucky enough to get warm in the house while picking out your tree you would get to see this beautiful display. Others would peak in through the windows covered in lights. Today the farm is still running and on any weekend in December, you will see photographers with beautiful sets and families running around picking out their favorite tree. Ian and I get to go back every December to experience this magical place with our girls.
As you will see, the bar was set really high for me. As I decorate around my house now, I constantly wonder “what would my mom do?” From the way I twirl the ribbon around the tree, to the exact place I choose to put the tree now, she is constantly on my mind. (and usually on speaker phone walking me through it) My dream would be to spend a day again decorating with my mom. To fly her here just for the day to put the house together and share some laughs an to teach me how to make a proper bow to top the tree. Maybe next year!
I truly believe that my mom is one of the most talented people at decorating for the holidays. I wanted to share her talents with you and give you a peek into all the beauty that she creates around their farm house in Ohio.
