2016 was a tough year. Our master bedroom held all of those feelings. It was dark and grey. The wallpaper is a brick red and the carpet is dark brown. We had a grey stone washed linen on the bed. With a new year and spring approaching I realized it was time to lighten up my space. I wanted to wake up and have the same feeling that I get when I see the calla lilies in bloom. I partnered with Wayfair to create a new fresh look !
I didn’t have a large budget to completely redo the master bedroom, but I knew I had to find ways to change it. I decided to be a design rebel and hide the carpet that I didn’t like with a natural fiber rug. The lightness changed the feel of the entire room immediately. It felt bigger and brighter. The natural feel matched the decor throughout our home. We have a lot of natural elements and exposed wood ceilings around our home. On the rug I added a grey sheepskin for the dogs to rest comfortably on.
We like to call our mid-century home “The Tree House.” It sits in the canyon surrounded by trees. Every window you look out of you see green. I wanted to add this to our room. I got a beautiful Fig Tree and house plants for our side table. I even hung a hanging planter from Wayfair in the corner of the master bedroom with succulents.
I loved the comfort and style of the stone washed duvet I had, but wanted to brighten the entire room by changing it to white. On the end of the bed I added a cozy white faux sheepskin blanket. I completed the look with two knit metallic grey lumbar pillows.
I hope you enjoy our peek into our master bedroom and changes!
