Ian was away for almost 6 weeks filming Sharknado 5. He was all over the world and I was in the thick of the storm at home with our 3 and 5 year olds. When Ian returned it was a hard adjustment, more for me than him. I had a new routine and he wasn’t apart of it. The first few days were hard as usually and Ian quickly decided we needed to get out of our routine and reconnect. From Bulgaria he saw on the news that the California desert was having a super bloom. From the comfort of my couch through the magic of Instagram I saw a magical looking hotel in the heart of Palm Springs called the Saguaro. We didn’t hesitate. We hit the road immediately and arrived on our 3 hour road trip to the most colorful hotel we have ever seen. It had the best energy full of smiling people and staff. We quickly went to bed with the girls (as it was 10pm) and woke up bright and early to get breakfast by the pool. The restaurant had the perfect California breakfast. Healthy and colorful. The girls played corn-hole in the side yard while we finished our coffee and they patiently waited to hit the pool.
The pool was a utopia of yellow umbrellas surrounded by the Palm Spring desert flower colors on the Saguaro Hotel building. The pool had unicorn and flamingo floaties gliding by and cocktails served in the cutest watermelon cups. It was everything you could imagine Palm Springs to be. Colorful with a touch of vintage. We played all morning until the noon sun arrived. We loaded into our family van to drive deeper into the desert. Our mission was to go an hour and a half to see the Super Bloom. We arrived to fields of yellow and watched as the girls skipped through the dessert heat picking every flower they could. After exploring all the colors and investigating all the colors of the desert we headed back to our hotel!
We enjoyed the evening and night right at the Saguaro. We had Mexican food at El Jefe restaurant inside the hotel and played at the pool all the next day! We can’t wait to go back- Ian and I are planning a little adult getaway there for Coachella!
