While most families are busy on family vacations, every summer a storm hits the Ziering residence. A storm by the name of Sharknado! It takes over our month of July. It has for the past 4 years. It starts with interviews, weeks of press, a weekend at Comic Con San Diego and lots of social media leading up to the main event. We love it! It is so exciting and very fun. I was in the second Sharknado and this time the girls were in the background with me in this 4th Sharknado movie. We were all very excited to see it.

The premiere was in Las Vegas. Ian and I decided to leave the girls at home since they wouldn’t be coming to see the movie with us. Between dinners and interviews they would have spent their whole weekend in a hotel room. They stayed at home with their favorite babysitter and watched Sharknado in their pajamas. I would love to tell you a fun story about our adult nights out in Vegas, but honestly we slept. I slept all day. I didn’t want out of the bed. I ordered room service and watched lots of bad movies until it was time for dinner and the premiere.
The night of the premiere was very exciting. It was at the Stratosphere LV. They filmed there during the movie. We got dressed in the presidential suite and went to the red carpet. It was so much fun. Flaminco dancers and Shark Cocktails were everywhere. The press line was great and there were so many fun fans to enjoy. I walked the red carpet with Ian and gave him time alone on it to interview as the leading man. We enjoyed the movie on a big screen and followed it up with an after-party at the hotel pool. Ian was doing press and talking to fans at the after party and I sat with our friends and enjoyed a few cocktails. It was a perfect night celebrating all their hard work!

Ian and I really wanted to enjoy the movie at home and celebrate with our children so I hosted a small Sharknado Viewing Party at our house when we returned. It was so much fun. I invited families and wanted it to be as simple as possible. We ordered pizza and served beer and popcorn. We were sent a few fun props for our party. My favorite was the popcornado bags!

I decorated the kids play area with lots of sharks and set up a few fun games for them. The kids read our favorite Sally the Shark book by Rosina P. Rothman. They also colored coloring pages and puzzles from the book. They ran around pretending to fight sharks until late in the night. They stopped a few times to watch the movie, but mostly they played.
