Located just 2 hours south of Los Angeles is a whimsical, luxurious beach getaway in Laguna Beach. A hotel located right on the beach, where the kids can play and splash without a worry in the world.
The hotel offers private oceanfront balconies, exquisite coastal dining, an award-winning spa and more. It is the perfect family adventure and we had to try it out.
Our oceanfront hotel room resembled a sun-washed Mediterranean Village and all rooms feature stunning views of the Pacific Ocean! The girls were in awe watching the pelicans fly right by their room! It was the perfect spot, with a cute beach town. We couldn’t wait to explore.
We were there for our 7th Wedding Anniversary! They had a great kids club in the evenings and the girls were more than happy to go so we could enjoy our anniversary night. We had it all planned out!
When we arrived, the girls did the first thing they always do when they arrive at a hotel….put their swimsuits on! They were at the door and ready to hit the pool and the beach. It was a little argument about what to do first. The pool was on the way to the beach so I quickly settled the dispute with chiming in that we would do both and pool first. With their googles on, they splashed into the pool while Ian and I enjoyed the cabanas and a refreshing Margarita. With all the excitement from the sounds of the waves the girls were quickly ready to frolic in the ocean and sand. The Surf and Sand Hotel provided beach chairs for us to watch the girls play on the sand and in the ocean. They played up until dinner time.
For dinner we had reservations at The Surf and Sand Resorts’ SPLASHES restaurant. With the sea just about 25 feet below, we could dine watching the waves roll in. We decided to bring the kids for dinner and were planning to send the kids to the kids camp so we could have an after dinner cocktail. That was until Penna got sick before our food even arrived. The poor thing had a touch of the flu that we weren’t aware of during the day. While Penna was cozy on my lap she looked right at me and before she could even speak she threw up all over me! Getting thrown up on during your anniversary dinner is truly #momlife. The resort staff was amazing though. It truly shows how accommodating to family life they are! I got Penna back to the room, cleaned up and tucked into bed. She was so sad that she ruined my pretty dress, bless her little heart! The resort brought our dinner to the room and our bottle of wine to enjoy our night. They even brought some crackers and hot water to help Penna feel better. Mia was still determined to go to kids camp so Ian and I enjoyed our evening in bed with our little sick Penna listening to the sounds of the waves.
The next morning Penna was back in action and feeling better. She wanted to go for a walk on the beach to collect shells. We found a beautiful lagoon full of shells, hermit crabs and fish. The girls loved it! They ran the beach the entire day! In the early evening, Mia and Ian enjoyed a bike ride through Laguna while little Penna took her afternoon nap. For dinner we enjoyed a Paella Meal right at the hotel restaurant.
Even with Penna’s little illness we had the most fabulous and relaxing time visiting the famous Laguna Beach area! I am sure Penna was just trying to make sure we never forget our 7th Wedding Anniversary!
